Frequent Questions and Answers

What are ESA's Annual Informational Trips?

These trips are a great opportunity for economics majors to learn about opportunities for summer internships and after graduation. Economics is a great major in that it applies to many different fields in the industry - these trips will provide you with a taste of what you can do with your major upon graduation. It's also a great way to meet other club members!

What are the Itineraries for these Trips?

ESA will provide transportation to and from Chicago and the Twin Cities. We will leave the afternoon of Sunday and spend the night on the town in Chicago and Minneapolis/St. Paul. On Monday we will visit three different firms and have lunch with distinguished UW Economics Alumni. We will visit a variety of firms, past trips have visited Goldman Sachs, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Merrill Lynch, the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, Robert W. Baird and McKinsey and Company. We will return to Madison by early evening on Monday.

How can I Apply?

Any ESA member can apply! Download the applications from the links above. The fee for the trip includes transportation, an overnight in downtown Chicago, and dinner on Sunday night. Return applications to ESA's mailbox on the 7th floor of Social Sciences (7200s hallway among the Econ TA's mailboxes).

Is there anything I can do to Prepare?

Trip attendees are highly encouraged go to submit their current resume to Bethany Nelson (banelson2@wisc.edu) or Letters & Science Career Services for critique before the trip. The BCC also offers seminars to prepare you for networking and interviewing.
